Department of Journalism and Media Sciences, technology and creativity go hand in hand and has for over 17 years been a blooming ground of media talent. The core curriculum skillfully balances theory with hands on practice, providing potential media professionals with an opportunity to gain a sound technical base and industry level knowledge. Media equipped classrooms and laboratories also create an ideal learning atmosphere where ideas and knowledge are freely discussed and debated upon.

On the completion of the Programmes, students were placed in industries like Print, Electronic Journalism, Films, Photography, Editing, Content Writing, Animation, e-Learning, Social Media, Advertising and Development Communication.

The Department also provides opportunities for students to work on an internship in various fields of Print, Electronic and Online media. Students are guided by expert faculty during their specialized research projects.

This Programme is designed to impart in-depth professional training in Print and Electronic Journalism, Page Layout and designing, Photo Journalism, Script writing for Radio and Television, Audio/Video Production, Technical Writing, Public Relations and Advertising Copy Writing. This Programme offers a plethora of job opportunities in various media organizations. Students can pick and choose their field of career and specialize by acquiring the required skills during the course of study.

It also provides theoretical knowledge on Communication Theories, Development Communication, Science Communication, Media Management, Advertising and Public Relations and practical skills in various aspects of Journalism and Media Science with emphasis on producing socially responsible and culturally conscious graduates as citizens of India.

The students learn to use camera and audio recorders to collect news for radio and television channels. Their training includes editing for radio stations and for TV bulletins. The students are trained to anchor radio and TV bulletins and participate in panel discussions. Introduce the students to the basics of online journalism and role of social media in the democratic processes.

With the advent of liberalization and the opening of the economy to the international world and with the invasion from the sky, innumerable career opportunities exist and are being created all the time not only in India but also abroad. But very few youngsters are aware of these opportunities for jobs in practically every field. One needs to acquire some basic job skills essential for every career.

Journalism is called mother of all media. Communicators of today have to understand the systems in which they work. They are required to have the basic skills of using language correctly and creatively and technical skills of writing, programming & production.

They need to develop the ability to process a variety of information to understand socio-economic, cultural issues affecting development. Not only in the national and international languages but even in regional languages, there has been tremendous increase in the news papers and magazines. This requires trained professional journalist. Journalism includes the occupation of reporting, writing, editing, photographing or broadcasting news.
